Truck driver hurt in crash on SR 243, allegedly fell asleep at the wheel

BEVERLY – A semi-truck driver was injured in a crash on state Route 243 near Beverly after reportedly falling asleep at the wheel.

Danny A. Sorenson, a 66-year-old Kansas man, was driving a 2016 Peterbilt semi-truck and trailer south on SR 243 about 6:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. He reportedly drove off the road to the right and struck a dirt embankment, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The semi-truck came to rest in a ditch off the southbound shoulder.

Sorenson was taken to Quincy Valley Medical Center for his injuries.

The state Department of Ecology also responded due to an about 150-gallon fuel leak.

The state patrol cited Sorenson for wheels off the roadway.

State Route 243 was closed from state Route 26 to Beverly Burke Road for about 11 hours. score: ifiberone.com
